Copyright is not infringed by anything done for the purposes
of an examination by way of setting
the questions, communicating the questions to the candidates or answering the questions provided
that the questions are accompanied by sufficient acknowledgement i.e. bibliographical details,
unless impractical to do so. It is generally accepted in the UK that the use of copyright material
in
a thesis or dissertation to be examined is included in this exemption. This exemption does not
apply to the reprographic copying of musical work for use by an examination candidate in
performing the work.
