Sakai Development at CARET
The research undertaken in the course of the project has informed Sakai development in a number of areas.
Wiki
The identified need for a collaborative writing tool guided the development of the Sakai Wiki tool. Now in use by TLRP projects and by the Applied Education Research Scheme, a second iteration of evaluation and development has led to further elaborations including:
- Text highlighting
- Export to RTF/PDF
- Full integration with other tools including Sakai Resources Tool
The Wiki is now a Core Sakai Tool as of Version 2.2. For further information on funcionality and support see its Sakaipedia page.
Search
The requirement of participants to search across potentially large and complex resource banks (containing, for example, large number of interview transcripts and interpretative documents) has guided the development of the Sakai Search Tool, and this has been made available to some projects.
